Reading manager Steve Coppell has stated that the Premier League strugglers are in no rush to resolve Marcus Hahnemann's contract situation.

It had been thought the 35-year-old American would automatically be offered a new deal upon making 20 Premier League appearances this season.

However, the Royals have yet to put forward new terms to the former Fulham man, who is expecting a one-year extension.

Coppell understands Hahneman's frustration, but has stated the club are in no hurry to resolve the issue.

"It's obviously something Marcus wants to get off his chest," said Coppell.

"If he is upset then I'm sorry, but we are quite comfortable with the contract situation."
