Hunt won't demand Royals transfer

Reading winger Stephen Hunt says the club will decide his future after revealing he has a clause in his contract at the Madejski Stadium.

Hunt is one of a number of Reading stars linked with a move away from Berkshire following their relegation from the Premier League.

Sunderland are thought to be readying a new bid for the talented midfielder after being frustrated in their attempts to sign him in the January transfer window.

Hunt is unsure what his future holds for him following relegation, but he insists he will not demand a move away from Reading.

"I'm contracted to Reading and, until I'm told otherwise, it doesn't make a blind bit of difference," Hunt told The Irish Independent.

"The gaffer has been very good to me in what he'd done for my career so it would be disrespectful to say anything else.

"It's a private matter, whatever happens at the club.

"There is a clause but there's nothing you can do about it until told otherwise.

"I'm happy at the club and grateful to the club for what it's done for me. I'm not going to sit here and do a Jermain Defoe on it and say I'm going.

"I've been trying to second-guess Steve Coppell for 10 years now. He's been very good to me but, if I have to uproot, I have to.

"A footballer's career is a short one and you have to make the most of it.

"You tell me what's happening. I've spoken to my agent once. I couldn't tell you who's interested."
