Murty pleads with pair to stay

Graeme Murty has issued a plea to Nicky Shorey and James Harper to stay at Reading next season - admitting they would be hard to replace.

The duo continue to be linked with a string of Premier League clubs including Portsmouth, Newcastle and Middlesbrough.

But skipper Murty told the Reading Evening Post: "I think they would be very, very difficult to replace.

"Having said that, nothing in football surprises me anymore so we just have to deal with situations as they turn up."
