Toffees fail with bid for Hunt

Reading have rejected a bid of around £3.5million from Everton for Republic of Ireland midfielder Stephen Hunt.

The Toffees have tried to beat the transfer deadline to secure a deal for the 27-year-old.

But Everton manager David Moyes' offer has been rejected by the Championship side.

Royals boss Steve Coppell has always insisted that he will only let his players leave if their valuations are met.

Whilst the likes of Nicky Shorey and Ibrahima Sonko have been allowed to make immediate returns to the Premier League, the club have stood firm over the likes of James Harper, Kevin Doyle and Hunt by rejecting bids.

"i'd say cheeky more than stupid, if you watch Hunt over any length of time then you'll see that he can be great sometimes, but at other times he runs about ike a recently beheaded chicken, seriously, I'm Irish and thought he was a great prospect and can completly change a game when he comes on, but if I'm honest he can't seem to do it consistently, and I'm not sure I'd consider 5.5mil a more realistic bid, ps, Jazza, I'd wouldn't put a players valuation at what Sunderland will pay"

mcmackin (Leeds United fan)

"£3.5mil thats quite stupid id saya he worth 6mil tops considering hes 27 but he is a great player and i thought he was he a powerful presence for reading."

LOYALROYAL4LIFE (Reading fan)

"3.5 mill. Try 5.5 and you have a new player!"
