The defender is believed to be a target for Aston Villa and Newcastle as sides begin to return to pre-season training.

However, Ferdinand, 23, is adamant that he will remain focused upon life at Upton Park until manager Alan Curbishley tells him otherwise.

"It's just speculation," Ferdinand told Sky Sports News while undertaking charity work in Africa.

"Until I get back to London I don't know what is going on.

"For me personally, until Alan Curbishley says I am not a West Ham player, then I will be a West Ham player. I love playing for the club."
