McLeish: It'll need a Big Mac bid

Birmingham boss Alex McLeish claims it would take a substantial bid for Blues to contemplate selling striker James McFadden this summer.

McFadden: Not for sale
McFadden: Not for sale

The Scotland international has become the centre of transfer gossip of late following the Blues' relegation from the Premier League last season.

He has attracted envious glances from Scottish champions Celtic and a number of Premier League clubs including Middlesbrough, West Ham and Aston Villa.

But McLeish insists that the club are under no pressure to sell their top players and insinuated that any club wanting to lure McFadden away from St Andrews would have to dig deep.

"He'll stay at the club," the Blues boss told Sky Sports News.

"Unless someone comes in with a bid relative to the Manchester United bid for (Cristiano) Ronaldo, then James is going to stay put.

"I think to put it succinctly he's not for sale."

"scotsman120 i dont think mcfadden is quite 33 yet! does any of your post actually make any sense?!"

Mag (Middlesbrough fan)

"I can't see Boro wanting him now we've signed Emnes, that's five decent strikers: Alves, Emnes, Mido, Aliadiere & Tuncay. Meanwhile we have no midfielders or a decent goalkeeper! What's McFadden like in goal?"
