Brown: Managers must have power

Phil Brown feels managers must have the final say on playing matters at football clubs having seen Kevin Keegan and Alan Curbishley forced out.

Brown: Has his say

Keegan and Curbishley both quit their posts at Newcastle and West Ham respectively this week citing differences with the board over transfer policy.

Brown admits he would not be comfortable working under a structure where he was not in full control of the make-up of his squad.

The Hull boss wrote in his Hull Daily Mail column: "The Kevin Keegan situation at Newcastle highlights a number of issues, the first one of which is all football decisions must to be finalised by the manager.

"All matters to do with team selection and transfers have to function on his say so. It's as simple as that.

"That didn't seem to be the case at Newcastle, so Keegan left the job."
