Southampton manager Mark Wotte has not given up hope of keeping Kelvin Davis, despite the goalkeeper closing in on a move to West Ham.
Davis, 32, who has also been linked with Leeds United, is now out of contract and with the future of the League One side still uncertain as takeover talks continue, no players can be offered a new deal.
The former Sunderland and Ipswich keeper has had a medical at Upton Park, but Wotte claims he could still stay with the South Coast club if new owners can be found within the next few days.
"I asked Kelvin about his situation and he has almost signed for West Ham," Wotte told the Southern Daily Echo.
"I hope the takeover will be done before Kelvin joins West Ham."
