Ferguson is hoping to clinch a 10th Premier League title on Sunday when United face Bruce's Wigan side at the JJB Stadium.

Despite his admiration for Ferguson, Bruce will make sure he does not have an easy ride.

But the former Old Trafford favourite accepts his team will have to work extremely hard if they are to extend their unbeaten run to six games.

He said: "To rule Manchester United for 20 years like Sir Alex and maybe win 10 Premier League titles is an unbelievable achievement.

"Sir Matt Busby laid down a legacy and Sir Alex has taken it on board and done it to perfection.

"The Manchester United way is to entertain and have players who get you off the edge of your seat. That has not changed in 50 years."

United have scored goals for fun with Cristiano Ronaldo managing to get 40 of them.

"When you get a wide player getting that many in a season, you wonder what the centre forward is going to do," said Bruce.

"The big thing about United is their strength in depth. Sir Alex can rotate the squad as it is deeper and stronger than when they first won the Premier League.

"That is what we are up against but we are looking forward to the challenge. It is great for the club and a small town like Wigan to host a game like this."

Defender Paul Scharner, the club's player of the year, is certainly excited about what lies immediately ahead.

He said: "You could not wish for more on the last day of the season than a home game against Manchester United in front of a full house.

"The football world will be watching us and we will try everything to get a victory.

"Manchester United are the best team in the league but we have kept a lot of clean sheets recently.

"We have 40 points so it has been a good season, although there is always room for improvement.

"It is a hard job each week when you face the best players in the world. You have to keep focused."
