Latics crash to defeat in Austria

Wigan slipped to a 2-0 defeat to Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt in their second of three pre-season friendlies in Austria on Tuesday.

They fell behind when Greece midfielder Ioannis Amanatidis converted Christoph Spycher's cross in the 16th minute.

Worse was to follow five minutes before half-time when Titus Bramble, standing on the goalline, could not prevent Markus Steinhofer's effort from the edge of the penalty area finding the net.

New signings Daniel de Ridder and Olivier Kapo both featured, the Dutch winger playing an hour with the Frenchman coming on for the last 30 minutes.
