Bruce is desperate to keep his players at the club during this month's transfer window and he claims that looks like being the case at this moment in time.

"I've had no contact with other clubs and I hope that continues," he said.

He also has no doubts over keeping on-loan striker Amr Zaki at the club.

"He's our until June, there are no get-out clauses," he added.

Latics were beaten 3-1 by Spurs in Friday night's opening FA Cup third-round clash but Bruce feels it would have been a different game had he not been without so many stars due to injury.

"I thought we did okay in patches but we didn't have that real menace in the side, which is normally there with Heskey and Zaki," he said.

"We came here without six or seven players and it's a difficult enough place to come anyway. A club like us can't really compete without those key players, but we gave it a go.

"I think if we'd have had our big-hitters, it would have been a different game."
