Wigan defender Emmerson Boyce has warned opponents that Latics are due to hand out a thrashing - once they find their form in the final third.
Wigan were held 1-1 by Fulham at the weekend despite dominating the
Cottagers in every single aspect of the game.
Boyce's close-range strike, his second in three games, was the sole blemish on Mark Schwarzer's scoresheet despite Wigan having 19 attempts on goal - 12 of them on target.
Latics have now mustered just 13 goals from their 12 Premier League matches so far this term, which is the sixth-worst record in the division. But centre-back Boyce is adamant Wigan are on the right track, and believes an avalanche of goals is just around the corner.
He told the Wigan Evening Post: "We keep knocking on the door - and sooner or later we are going to give someone a hammering.
"On another day, the goals would have gone in, but it wasn't meant to be on Sunday.
"Thankfully we didn't get punished at the other end on the breakaway.
"We are working hard every day in training to get it right, but we are inconsistent.
"We put in a great display against Chelsea, then a poor one at Hull. We play well against Manchester City, then not so good at Portsmouth.
"If we can put a consistent run together, it can be a good season for us."
Boyce's goal against the Cottagers makes him Wigan's joint-second top-scorer this term alongside Paul Scharner on two, with only Hugo
Rodallega ahead of them in the standings.
And, after only having plundered one goal in his entire Latics career before last month, Boyce admits he's revelling in his current status as a 'goal machine'.
He said: "It feels good, and I'm delighted to have got another goal, although we should have picked up the three points as well.
"People have been telling me for the last couple of seasons that I needed to get into the box more and chip in with the odd goal, and it's going for me at the moment.
"I've had a few chances this season, and luckily enough I've put a couple of them away.
"You just have to gamble and take a chance sometimes.
"On Sunday, I thought the ball might come back into the box, so I stayed there, and Paul Scharner managed to get a great head on it.
"I had a similar chance against Chelsea, when I blasted it and it hit the keeper, so this time I tried to place it."
