Berra backs Sylvan to sparkle

Christophe Berra is backing Wolves striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake to go on a scoring run after scoring his first Premier League goal.

Ebanks-Blake netted from the penalty spot during Saturday's creditable 1-1 home draw with Aston Villa on Saturday.

The former Plymouth player suffered early season injury niggles but Berra has faith in him to show the kind of prolific form which helped Wolves gain promotion from the Championship.

Defender Berra said: "Sylvan has always been a goalscorer. He was just unlucky with having a few injuries at the start of the season.

"He had a couple of chances the week before against Everton when he was unlucky with and hopefully that goal against Villa will give him more confidence.

"He is not short of confidence but strikers do feed on goals and I am sure he will score a few goals in this league.

"If he is in the box, he will shoot and if he gets half a chance the majority of the time it ends up in the back of the net."

Berra believes Wolves have healthy competition for places up front - but also in other areas of the pitch.

He explained: "In the last couple of games Sylvan and Kevin Doyle have linked up really well but Chris Iwelumo is back and Andy Keogh has had a great start to the season, so there are lots of strikers.

"It is good for the team that so many people are vying for the starting 11 and not just the ones on the bench. There are ones in the stand who are quality players."
