Lucketti, 36, has signed a two-year deal at the Galpharm Stadium and teams back up with Ternent, who he worked with at Bury.

Ternent told the club's official website: "Chris is a very important signing for me as he'll be the captain this season.

"We go back a long way. I'd been on with his move for quite a long time now. He's a proper player, a real leader and a good guy.

"We certainly needed some experience and know-how, but now we have a situation where we have five extremely good players for the heart of the defence, which certainly gives us the competition for places that we need."
