Gary Hart and Kerry Mayo are expected to sign new one-year deals in the coming days after impressing Brighton boss Micky Adams in pre-season.
Veterans Mayo, 31, and Hart, 32, were released by boss Dean Wilkins at the end of last season but the arrival of Adams has led to a reprieve for the pair.
They have played more than 750 games between them for the Seagulls but Adams insists it is purely business.
"Harty and Kerry have been excellent servants to this club, but this is not a sentimental gesture," Adams told the club's official website.
"If I didn't think they could add something to the squad this season they would not have been offered new deals.
"They have both demonstrated throughout pre-season that they still have plenty to offer Brighton & Hove Albion."
