Summer signing Akinfenwa scored twice from the penalty spot in the space of five second-half minutes to put the Cobblers in control of the game.

Gray said: "Adebayo made things happen for us throughout the game despite having five stitches in a head wound.

"His ball retention was excellent and besides his two goals he has played a big part in Leon's goal."

Of the game itself, Gray added: "We were off the pace in the first half and looked nervous and it wasn't until we went behind that we got going.

"But once we equalised I thought we should have taken the lead before the interval. I wanted to hit the ground running and we did in the end."

"Well with the First games done and dusted what can anyone read into how this will Div One turn out come next May one might well ask,To be Honest I do not see the Cobblers setting this Div on fire but they could well be in the mix once we get the Midfielders Fit ang rearing to go because we have two big strikers who will upset any defence in this League given the service from these midfielders plus the fact Coke and Co know just where the Nett is,I still see Leicester and Leeds will take some beating don't write off Millwall they blew hot and Cold last season as I say lets wait and see,"
