The striker hobbled out of what turned out to be a fiery clash in France after being on the end of a poor challenge just 17 minutes in, and is the third Gills player to get injured in a week after midfielders Stuart Lewis and Adam Miller.

Manager Mark Stimson said: "Unfortunately Dennis has picked up a nasty knock on his knee so that's not looking good.

"I think it was a poor tackle to be honest and it's three players who would probably be in the starting 18 (that are injured).

"Two might have been in the starting XI so they are not good injuries to pick up."
