Pardew: Saints can clear Dons hurdle

Southampton manager Alan Pardew hopes his team can maintain their momentum against high-flying MK Dons when the two sides meet this weekend.

Saints have won their last three League One matches, hitting 10 goals along the way, to wipe out their 10-point deduction and move off the bottom of the table.

The third-placed Dons visit St Mary's on Saturday and Pardew is looking for his side to record their first win of the season against one of the so-called 'big teams' in the division.

"The progression of the team is good and we've got strong ammunition on the bench and throughout the squad, so on reflection it's been a very good period for us. But it's only a small timeframe so it must continue," Pardew told Saints' official website.

"We're coming up against a team in MK Dons who are really fighting for the top two places. They're a good team and they're going well, and they're in the sort of form that could unsettle our run.

"We've had mixed performances against the big teams and not had a win yet, so that's our next hurdle to clear."

"Same old Alan. Bigging up the opposition. I think Southampton at home with all their crowd, stadium, money, history yadda yadda yadda and McDons with their nothing isn't really the David and Goliath that he makes out. In anyone's book this should and is a 100% home win. Anything less is rubbish. "
