Breacker hails Addicks skipper

Nicky Bailey won the plaudits from Charlton assistant manager Tim Breacker after their 4-2 win over Bristol Rovers at The Valley on Tuesday.

Goals from Rovers pair Jeff Hughes and Chris Lines had cancelled out early strikes by David Mooney and Deon Burton from the penalty spot, so it was left to Addicks skipper Bailey to keep his side within six points of leaders Leeds.

The midfielder pounced on a loose ball to poke home in the 68th minute and substitute Akpo Sodje made sure of the points late on.

Breacker said: "Nicky is a good player and a good captain. He leads by example and we are delighted with him. He scores goals for us, but also dictates play from midfield.

"In there alongside Jose Semedo, I thought they were great for us. In the wind and rain, it's great to have players like that.

"We have scored nine goals in two home matches now and we've always felt we had goals in this team. The great thing is that we have a Plan B for when teams try to counter us, and that is good to have."
