Shrews knock back Humphrey bid

Shrewsbury Town manager Paul Simpson has confirmed that the club have rejected a bid from Blackpool for midfielder Chris Humphrey.

The winger is currently stalling on signing a new two-year deal and Simpson is happy to give him time to mull over his future.

He told the club's official website: "Chris has decided that he wants to give him a little bit more time for decisions to come and I respect that.

"He's had a couple of clubs who have been enquiring but other than Blackpool there isn't anyone else who has been in touch with us about taking Chris Humphrey.

"Until a club agrees something with us or they are prepared to take a chance with a tribunal then Chris will stay here.

"As he hasn't signed a contract I can't prepare for the season with him in my mind just in case he does go."
