Bradford manager Stuart McCall has awarded his side a damning four out of 10 for last season's performance after they finished tenth.
The Bantams were expected to mount a promotion challenge following McCall's arrival last summer, but only briefly threatened to reach the play-offs.
McCall told the club's official website: "It would be a massive four (out of 10) without a doubt. We must do better.
"The bottom line is we've got to win more football games, got to win more points, got to be higher in the table and got to give the magnificent support some success. But take it from me, we will be striving to do that."
Meanwhile, midfielder Kyle Nix, 22, who followed McCall to Valley Parade from Sheffield United last summer, has signed a new one-year contract, while Huddersfield striker Luke Beckett has been given permission to talk to the club.
Beckett, 31, still has a year to run on his contract at the Galpharm Stadium, but new manager Stan Ternent is prepared to release the former Chesterfield and Stockport forward.
