Williams sides with U's boo boys

Colchester boss Geraint Williams admitted he could understand the fans' frustration after his side slumped to a 3-0 defeat at home to MK Dons.

Williams: Takes the blame
Williams: Takes the blame

A second-minute strike from Aaron Wilbraham and a brace from Sam Baldock was enough to condemn Williams' men to another defeat at their new stadium, a result which leaves them second-bottom of the League One table.

Williams said: "I think every fan is entitled to their opinion. It costs a lot of money to come to football matches but I'd rather them shout at me rather than shout at the team.

"You always feel pressure as a manager and it's me who picks the team and is responsible for the tactics.

Williams felt his side never recovered from the shock of conceding to Wilbraham's early strike.

He added: "We wanted to bounce back after the defeat at Crewe but to concede at the start of the match set the tone for the afternoon. It seemed to snowball from there. We didn't give them enough problems and didn't have enough possession."
