Rovers take a look at Pressley

Doncaster Rovers manager Sean O'Driscoll has handed a trial to former Celtic defender Steven Pressley, who is a free agent.

The 34-year-old was released by the SPL champions at the end of last season and is likely to feature for Rovers in their pre-season friendly with Scunthorpe on Saturday.

O'Driscoll told the club's official website: "I've been totally up front with Steven and, at 34, he probably wasn't somebody who was on our radar.

"But when you talk to various people who have played with him and the people at Celtic, he got such a favourable opinion.

"He wasn't doing anything and we gave him the option to come down here and train and put himself in the shop window - so to speak - against Scunthorpe.

"He's taken that opportunity and he'll play."
