New boy has play-off ambition

Hartlepool new boy Alan Power insists there is no reason why his side cannot win promotion to the Championship this season.

Power was the first of Danny Wilson's summer signings, arriving on a free transfer following his release by newly-promoted Nottingham Forest.

He made just one first-team appearance for Forest last season, in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, but the 20-year-old is confident Pools can emulate the Reds' feat.

Power told the Hartlepool Mail: "I would say we can definitely push for the play-offs and that will be the first thing on our minds, if not automatic promotion.

"If we get a good start to the league we can push on from there.

"The manager said we will be pushing for promotion this year and I remember watching Hartlepool last year and they were a very good passing side."
