Luton boss Mick Harford admits a point was not good enough after Millwall gifted the Hatters their first away point of 2008 in a goalless draw.
Luton had not taken anything from an away game since they beat Port Vale 2-1 on December 29 but Harford, who has won only once since taking over in January, insists he must believe that the Hatters - currently second bottom - can survive the drop.
"In a different situation it would have been a good result but it is not," he said.
"We dominated the first half but in the second we dawdled and we didn't get into their half quick enough. We played very well for 45 minutes but we only have the ability to play well for 45-minute spells at the moment.
"But when you get those good spells you have to go into the lead and we don't.
"It will be monumental if we do get out of this but I have got to believe to give belief to the players and the fans until it is mathematically impossible."
