Oldham coach Andy Smith has confirmed they are one of several clubs chasing Gretna goalkeeper Greg Fleming, with Crewe also interested.
The administration-saddled Scottish Premier League side were relegated from the top tier in March and face liquidation if they fail to attract an appropriate buyer by the May 17 deadline.
Many of the club's senior players have been told they are free to find other clubs, with the 21-year-old stopper attracting the attention of numerous un-named sides.
Fleming starred in the Anvils' 0-0 draw with St Mirren on Saturday, and Smith said: "Greg has been training with other clubs.
"Crewe and Oldham are two from England, but the phone has been busy regarding Greg as he is going to be a very good goalkeeper and an asset."
