Boyd explains penalty faux pas

New Peterborough captain George Boyd admits he changed his mind during his run up to his missed penalty at Sheffield United on Saturday.

Boyd: Missed from spot

Boyd had found the net from the spot four times this season before missing at Bramall Lane and conceded that he should have kept faith with his original decision.

Boyd said: "As I ran up I changed my mind.

"I was going to go the other way because I've been hitting them a lot to the goalkeeper's left lately.

"But instead I stuck it the same side and probably hit it too well as it came off my boot at a nice height.

"If I'd scuffed it and kept it low it would probably have gone in and there's no question we deserved to get level."
