The Silkmen destroyed Vale 4-1 at Vale Park on Saturday, which led to Lee Sinnott being sacked by the Potteries outfit.

But midfielder Tudor was quoted in the Stoke Sentinel afterwards as saying: "It's Port Vale here. We're playing Macclesfield Town.

"No disrespect to them, but they're a s... club. Look at the size of us to them and it's a million miles away ... like comparing Man United to Crewe."

Nelson sought an apology from Vale and said: "Bill Bratt got back to me and confirmed there will be an apology in the post.

"I asked him to write us a letter so we can stick it on the website for all the fans to see. It was an unusual comment as in any industry you need to respect your peers."
