Ian Hendon has accepted a new improved two-year contract as assistant manager to boss Paul Fairclough at League Two outfit Barnet.
Hendon has spent the past 12 months as a coach, after retiring as skipper at the close of last season, and is looking forward to his new role and helping the team move forward.
He told the club's website: "I am delighted with the deal - Barnet has been such a big part of my life for the past five years.
"It has been an eye opener for me. I am looking to help Paul to continue the improvement the team has show getting back into the league. Next season the aim is for a play-off place at least."
Despite officially hanging up his boots as a player before the start of the season, the 36-year-old still made five first team appearances over the course of the year.
