Morecambe manager Sammy McIlroy has admitted that highly-rated winger Garry Thompson is almost certain to leave Christie Park this summer.
The 27-year-old is out of contract and could move on a free transfer if he fails to agree a new contract.
Thompson has been offered a three-year deal, but McIlroy says he cannot see the long-serving winger extending his stay with the Shrimps.
McIlroy told the Lancashire Evening Post: "My gut feeling is that Garry Thompson will not be at Morecambe in August.
"We've had months of talks and discussions, both with Garry and his representative, but I don't think he will sign that contract now.
"The offer is on the table - as it has been for many months - and it is up to Garry now. I want the fans to know we've made the best financial offer to a player in Morecambe's history, and we can't do any more."
