Chesterfield manager John Sheridan is keen to have Donal McDermott back on loan at Saltergate after the winger returned to Manchester City.
McDermott spent three months on loan with the League Two club, during which time his exciting performances and five goals made him a firm favourite with Blues fans.
McDermott's last appearance was in the 1-0 home win over Barnet on Saturday.
Sheridan said: "I'm disappointed to see him go, and we will miss him. He's been excellent for us and he's given us a lot of energy.
"I tried to keep him but unfortunately he's got to go back. I will be trying my hardest to bring him back but it's all in Manchester City's hands."
