Six players slapped on transfer list

New Cheltenham manager Martin Allen has made six members of his squad available for transfer as he begins to stamp his authority on the club.

Defenders Jerry Gill and Lee Ridley, midfielders Aaron Ledgister, Andy Lindegaard and Craig Armstrong and recent signing Josh Low have all been placed on the transfer list.

Allen told the club's official website: "I have taken this decision after much thought and discussion with my staff. Results have clearly shown that the first-team squad needs to be improved and for me personally we have far too many players here who are not threatening the first-team.

"We need our first XI improved so I have spoken to all of the players personally. This is nothing to do with their attitudes because all of them have been absolutely first class since I've been here. They are good players and all good lads but I do need to make some changes.

"The players have been made available for loan and free transfers because we need to freshen things up and the numbers have got to be reduced."
