Cheltenham have swooped to snap up striker Stuart Fleetwood from Championship outfit Charlton on an initial one-month loan deal.

Despite scoring four goals in six games for Addicks' reserve side, the 22-year-old has found himself struggling for first team football after making the switch to the Valley from Forest Green Rovers over the summer.

But Gloucester-born Fleetwood hopes a move closer to home will launch his bid for a place in Alan Pardew's XI.

He told the club's official website: "I'm here to try and get some games under my belt and hopefully help to push Cheltenham Town up the table.

"It's a big step from the Conference to the Championship and Charlton have a big squad with some good players, so I didn't expect to get into the first team straight away.

"The move is another step for me and a chance to play some first team football that will hopefully get me into the Charlton first team."
