Schofield tight-lipped on Town job

John Schofield failed to provide any insight into whether he will get the Cheltenham job full-time after guiding Town to a 5-1 win over Barnet.

Schofield has been in temporary charge of team affairs since October 20 with Martin Allen on gardening leave as the club's board carry out an internal investigation.

A decision regarding Allen's future at the Abbey Business Stadium is expected this week but Schofield, who finally landed his first victory in six attempts, remained tight-lipped over his future.

"I can't answer questions about whether I might get the job full-time, what I can do is tell you that it is great to score goals and it is even better to win games," he said.

Ben Marshall scored twice, while Andy Gallinagh and Justin Richards were also on target after Barnet had gone ahead through John O'Flynn, with Ismail Yakubu's own goal rounding off the scoring.

"A lot of things we tried came off and this type of performance can do nothing but keep the belief in the players," added Schofield.
