Sean O'Driscoll will not prevent Doncaster assistant boss Richard O'Kelly filling the vacant managerial post at League Two outfit Grimsby.
O'Kelly enjoyed a spell with the Mariners during his playing career and has been heavily linked with a return to Blundell Park following Alan Buckley's departure on Monday.
Rovers boss O'Driscoll has worked with O'Kelly at Bournemouth and now at the Keepmoat Stadium and will not stand in his way if the League Two club make a formal approach.
"Richard is 50 years of age and he doesn't need my permission to do anything," said O'Driscoll.
"He's well thought of at Grimsby and he'll make his own decisions."
Meanwhile, former Norwich and Wigan boss John Deehan has joined Andy Ritchie in declaring an interest in the Grimsby job.
