The 21-year-old Wales international trained with his new team-mates for the first time on Tuesday and has penned an initial loan deal until January 4 - when he is expected to sign a three-year contract.

He said: "I've moved to Swansea for purely footballing reasons.

"It was very frustrating at Sheffield because I wasn't playing regularly - and any footballer will tell you there is nothing worse."

Swans boss Paulo Sousa said: "He has the attributes I expect from a player in his position. He brings quality and different characteristics to the squad that will help us improve."

"i also rate cotterill he has got all the skills and attributes of a good winger however i do wonder who sousa plans on selling to bring him in on a permanent basis as we already have many wide players, van der gun, dyer, gower, butler, orlandi and even britton and macdonald can fill these positions personally i think butler is no longer needed and i would personally prefer cotterill to him and gower anyday as i believe gower is highly over rated"

foghornred (Bristol City fan)

"Good signing for Swansea,a real winger in the old fashioned mould.

At Bristol City after coming through the ranks he really made a name for himself with some match winning performances before Wigan came in with a big money offer and he went to the Premiership to early in his career to be of any help to him.

Now a good championship player."
