Viola star aims to interrogate Gers

Fiorentina midfielder Marco Donadel admits Rangers have the Italians right where they want them ahead of Thursday's UEFA Cup semi-final tie.

Donadel: Fiorentina up for second leg

The goalless first-leg draw at Ibrox last week means Rangers will reach the May 14 final with a score draw or a victory in the second leg in Florence on Thursday.

Donadel, 25, missed out in Glasgow as he served a suspension but returns to Cesare Prandelli's team for the crucial return game.

And he recognises Fiorentina must be at their best to bring Rangers' European campaign to an end.

The Italians are favourites with bookmakers to win the tie, but Rangers beat Sporting Lisbon 2-0 away from home in the previous round.

And Donadel said: "The odds of going through only exist written on paper."

Fiorentina were 2-0 winners against PSV Eindhoven in the away leg of their quarter-final, after a 1-1 draw at home, and Donadel said: "We need to go into the game with the same mentality as in Eindhoven, giving all we have right from the start, making Rangers aware that it is going to be difficult for them.

"I think the first leg only illustrated their unwillingness to concede a goal and that we were looking to get one.

"Nil-nil was the result they were looking for."

Donadel insists Fiorentina are ready to rise to this week's challenge, which comes at a time the 'Viola' are attempting to nail down fourth place in Serie A.

Rather than be distracted by their league duties, and a possible campaign in the Champions League next season, Donadel claims Fiorentina are fully focused on their UEFA Cup mission.

"We now have a bit of extra determination," he said.

"We need to win and push much harder.

"It is hard to get a quick game going against a side who are so compact, so we will have to press them far up the field and play a game of the type we are capable of playing.

"It is great to hear the enthusiasm of the whole city, which is close to us."
