Jewell says a fee was agreed between the East Midlands clubs on Sunday and has now revealed the price Forest had offered for the 27-year-old.

"We have agreed a fee with Nottingham Forest of £2.5million and Robert is speaking to them," Jewell told the Rams' official website.

"I gave him the option of speaking to them or he could stay here and he wanted to speak to them.

"I think it is a fair price. We actually paid £3.6million for him so it's a loss of £1.1million over a year but as I have said, I want to change things quite drastically here and everyone has their price.

"If we can get a few out and bring a few new players in with a bit of freshness, I think it will only benefit us."

Earlier on Tuesday, it was reported that Forest were facing competition for Earnshaw's signature from Sheffield United.

"I'm in total agreement with jonny, he's a confidence player, if he plays regularly he'll net 20+ goals next season in the Championship"

jonnyvillaz (Aston Villa fan)

"It absolutely astounds me how this guy keeps getting sold, he is quality, ok he lacks the height, but he would easily score 15-20 goals a season with a regular run out!!"
