Zigic linked with £5m Villa move

Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill has made a move for Valencia's £5million-rated Serbian striker Nikola Zigic, according to the La Liga side.

Zigic looks set to be on his way out of Valencia with the club prepared to offload the 6ft 7in hitman.

The Serbian international has been informed he does not figure in new Valencia coach Unai Emery's plans after failing to establish himself at La Mestalla.

Zigic has been linked with a move to England for some time and now Villa are reported to have made a firm offer for the former Racing Santander star.

Valencia sporting director Juan Sanchez claims Villa have made an offer for Zigic and that the player will make a decision on his future in the next few days.

"The player and his agent know about the offer and we expect them to make a decision in the coming days," Sanchez is quoted as saying in the Sunday Mirror.

"he would be a great foil for agbong and young. it also seems as though bary is staying. if we get zigic, finnan, bentley, freidel and keep barry we will be in for a good season"

Lewellian (Leeds United fan)

"Valencia was in an absolute mess last year, any player could have had trouble settling in there that season. The guy's been consistent for club and country for five years, is much more physically imposing than Crouch and is, frankly, made for this league. He's well worth a punt at that price."

serbianred (Liverpool fan)

"Zigic is Class, Much better in the air then Crouchie, plus he has a wicked shot outside the area.He creates loads of penalties.Club like villa should not be able to sign him."
