Pavlyuchenko 'not keen' on Spurs

Roman Pavlyuchenko has apparently ruled out a move to Tottenham, saying instead he would prefer a move to London rivals Chelsea or Arsenal.

Pavlyuchenko: May not join Spurs

The Russia striker, reportedly subject of repeated interest from Spurs boss Juande Ramos, impressed with his performances at Euro 2008.

Pavlyuchenko formed a fine partnership with Andrei Arshavin for the national team, another man who is rumoured to be a target for the White Hart Lane club.

However, the Spartak Moscow forward is quoted in The Mail on Sunday as suggesting that he would not consider a move to Spurs.

He said: "I love the Premier League and I would certainly like to play there.

"However, if I go to England, I would want to play for Arsenal or Chelsea."

Spurs are in the market for at least one new striker after the sale of Robbie Keane to Liverpool, and rumours surrounding a potential move to Manchester United for Dimitar Berbatov refuse to go away.

"Not being in the Champions League undoubtedly makes it very difficult to sign the really big name players but even given that fact, Tottenham have done excellently in the transfer market.Choosing to go to one of the current top 4 teams is a logical choice then but Spurs have shown real intent of being part of the elite and if we get Arshavin to add to Bentley, Gio and Modric as recent signings, then for a mid-table club we are doing great.Spurs will make a huge run at the upper echelons of the league and it is up to the current glamour boys to keep us out. It's going to be a very interesting season. COYS! "

"yesterday all spurs fans were singing Roman Pavlyuchenko to be their strike force, but as soon as he revealed he wouldnt like to move to a small club(tottenham), all the spurs fans never wanted him here and say he's crap... get real guys!!! i remember the story of the fox who couldnt get the grapes...."

"Gosh, it's the end of the world for Spurs now that Pavlyuchenko does not want to join us. Who cares about sub-standard recruitments like Modric, Dos Santos and Bentley? The real big catch is supposed to be Pavlyuchenko, Russia's greatest ever player...I am in tears."

"Didn't Martin Jol just win your tournament Gooners? Ha. So this guy doesn't want to play for us. Who really cares? David Villa does......."

"bigmandan isnt Arshaving the one who was desperate to sign for Barcelona? or was desperate to sign for Arsenal...or is ot he is is desperate to sign for tottenham...must be nice to buy rejects"

"Roman Pavlyuchenko along with Van Der Vaart, Eto, etc etc have all stated that they 'would not be interested in going to Spurs'. Well the question is, why should they?? Why would top class players like these choose to go to a middle table team when they can go to Chelsea, Man U, Liverpool, Arsenal etc. This is coming from the players themselves, now Spurs fans stop bigging yourselves up too much and remember the above."

bigmandan (Tottenham Hotspur fan)

"Isn't it amusing that Arsenal fans only have one high now, when Spurs don't sign a player. Oh well, guess we'll have to make do with Arshavin. Sorry Gooners, guess you should have played the long game when choosing a club a few seasons back? Hillarity Ensues."

"Pavlyuchenko 'not keen' on Spurs. OUCH!!! Spurs have been taking some beating this summer (Keane, Del Nido, now Pavlyuchenko, next Arshavin?) LOL"
