No offers, says Toon target Sav

Real Madrid striker Javier Saviola insists he has received no offers for his services despite reported interest from Newcastle United.

Saviola: Unsure about Real future
Saviola: Unsure about Real future

Recent media speculation in both Spain and England suggested Saviola was on the radar of Newcastle, with the Argentinian hitman having played only a bit-part role at the Bernabeu since joining from Barcelona last summer.

However, Saviola on Wednesday claimed the only thing he knew about the supposed interest was through the media.

"Nobody or club has come to me. Right now I am at Real Madrid and my future currently rests here," said 26-year-old.

Nevertheless, Saviola did hint that his situation could change if he again finds himself left on the sidelines by Madrid coach Bernd Schuster in the upcoming campaign.

"The season hasn't started yet, when it does we will see what situation I am in," he added. "What I want is the same as before, to work hard in order to have more playing time.

"The best thing for any footballer is that the coach trusts in them. Schuster has already told me that he has confidence in me."

"yarmnthat, av seen cocktail sticks with more points than sunderland are capable of, Cisse is not good enough for the prem so should be ok for you in the championship next year! Hull will finish higher than you guys this year and they will be second bottom!"

"I've wanted Saviola on the back of my toon shirt since he was at RIVER PLATE, he is such a fantastic striker and a hard worker, where I'd love him to play for NEWCASTLE!!! Please get him Keegan, he can replace Owen, who will always be injured!!! Martins and Saviola up front for the toon, COME ON!!!"

kevikeez (Newcastle United fan)

"that`s rubbish .. Ashton is not who we need. Saviola has tons of experience and if we can score in OT with a so called small striker in martins i dont see why we cant have dynamic strikers instead of the traditional big target man. Our style of play if similar to man united, could prove to be a hit of players like saviola to shine. Ashton and Viduka will never come back and help out the midfield. Owen, Saviola and Martins would !"
