Robinho deal moving closer - Agent

Chelsea could finally be set to sign Robinho after the Brazilian's agent revealed the playmaker's Real Madrid career was about to end.

Robinho: Nearing Blues switch
Robinho: Nearing Blues switch

The Blues have been tracking Robinho for much of the summer and lodged a bid with Real earlier this month.

The Spanish champions were initially keen to keep the 24-year and Chelsea were not willing to match their lofty valuation.

However, Robinho recently admitted he was desperate to leave the Bernabeu and secure a move to Chelsea, and Real responded by saying they would let him leave.

The former Santos playmaker has been warned he may have to pay to terminate his contract, but agent Wagner Ribeiro expects the matter to be resolved before the close of the transfer window.

"The deal is about to be reached," Ribeiro said in the Daily Mirror.

"Robinho's cycle in Spain has come to an end and he is looking forward to a new project."

Reports suggest that Robinho will travel to London this week to discuss personal terms ahead of a proposed £28million move.

"Personally think Robinho would be a great signing for Chelsea, albeit creating major selection problems for you. The Kaka deal won't be happening though."

"I am all for this IF it means we get rid of both wright philips and malouda."

"Whilst I think Robinho is a brilliant player, I don't think he's actually -as- good as he's made out to be. I'm not trying to be a bitter Man Utd fan at all, but I don't think he will contribute -that- much more to the team. Although he and Joe Cole will play on the flanks, I don't think he'll shine as much as the likes of Deco, Ballack and Essien will in the centre of midfield. Chelsea are naturally a narrow team, with everyone preferring to play infield, except Bosingwa and A.Cole. Whilst he is very good, I don't think he'll be the world beater which -some-, not all, but -some- Chelsea fans are expecting him to be."

"Richard_Large (Arsenal fan),if you were the manager of chelsea, then i would indeed say we have a problem in our hands, because it appears you are a dim wit!

players don't move to clubs to take other's position, but to contribute to the overall good of the team.robinho will fit in where ever the manager plays him because it is his decison alone to make, and not for some sh..head to start causing disaffection where none exists.LEAVE CHELSEA ALONE!!"
