Sonejee ready to renew Roo rivalry

Andorr defender Oscar Sonejee is looking forward to again doing battle with England striker Wayne Rooney in Saturday's World Cup qualifier.

Rooney and Sonejee: Clashed last year

Sonejee's unsettling tactics against the Manchester United ace helped keep out England for nearly an hour in March year.

Rooney was booked after growing frustrated with the part-time insurance broker's man-handling, leading to the striker eventually being withdrawn by McClaren.

Sonejee was less than impressed with Rooney's "arrogant" demeanour and is looking forward to renewing acquaintances again this weekend when England's 2010 World Cup qualifying campaign gets underway.

"We were talking and he said, 'I'm a star player' and insulted me - and then I insulted him back," he revealed.

"In his mind, he was thinking, 'Who are Andorra? They have small players and are not professional'.

"Rooney was arrogant. When he plays Croatia, he's probably not so arrogant.

"This match was a very hot situation and when Rooney talks, he's very hot and very aggressive. He said things to me and I said them back.

"But I insulted him back in Spanish, so it's possible he didn't understand.

"I had a strong fight against Rooney last year. It was a battle."

"Funny, Rooney can't even win physically and mentally battle with a part-time footballer. When was the last time Rooney scored for England? Crouch and Owen has the better statistics but not included. "

vanbento24 (Aston Villa fan)

"It is this sort of arrogance from the England team that angers fans. They believe their own hype and just never turn up. No passion and always want to cruise through games. About time they learnt to dig in whoever they are playing."

redsforlife (Manchester United fan)

"if what this guy is saying is true, then not fair play from rooney"
