Suspended ban for Boothroyd

Former Watford manager Adrian Boothroyd has been handed a suspended one-match touchline ban by the Football Association.

Boothroyd was sent to the stands by referee Stuart Attwell during the 2-2 Championship draw with Reading on September 20 after protesting against the award of a throw-in against his side.

The match was made infamous by Attwell's earlier award of the 'phantom goal' against Boothroyd's side and he admitted a charge of improper conduct at a hearing on Thursday afternoon.

The suspended ban will be activated should Boothroyd be found guilty of a similar offence before the end of the season.

Boothroyd left the Hornets last week after a disappointing start to the season.

"It says a lot about this referee that he pursued this after what had gone on before ie the award of that farsical "goal". His failure as well to not overturn the bookings given by the players protesting about that same "goal" show Attwell upto be an officious, pedantic, self righteous robot.
