Boss Brown reprimanded by FA

Hull boss Phil Brown has been fined £1,000 and warned over his future conduct by the FA after admitting a charge of improper conduct.

The charge relates to Brown's touchline behaviour during the Tigers' 5-0 Premier League defeat against Wigan at the KC Stadium on August 30.

The FA's regulatory commission revealed the punishment took into account Brown's admission of the charge, his immediate apology to the match officials and the steps the club have taken to avoid a repeat incident in the future.

Brown was visibly angered throughout the heavy home defeat, which was Hull's first in the league since their promotion from the Championship last season.

The 49-year-old reportedly kicked a water bottle in frustration at one point but made his way to the stands before referee Michael Jones had chance to punish him.

Wigan won the match courtesy of a Sam Ricketts own goal, an Amr Zaki brace and further strikes by Antonio Valencia and Emile Heskey.

"Fergie finally was punished this week for an improper conduct charge. He has been pushing the limits of what he can get away with all season. I doubt the minimal fine and 2 match ban will stifle his criticisms but at least the FA sacked up to reprimand him for his behaviour."

"chrissmith_10 - isn't Ferguson serving a 2 match touchline ban and £10,000 fine....?"

"Where is Ferguson's charge? I don't recall a game this season when Ferguson hasn't critisized the referee. I clearly remember 3 or 4 times he has absolutely ripped into the ref after the game."
