Manchester City star Robinho has revealed he aims to be in the running for the World Player of the Year award in the next few seasons.
The £32.5million Brazilian star has settled well to life in the Premier League, scoring seven goals since his arrival on transfer deadline day, and has lofty ambitions for both himself and his new team.
Robinho did not make the shortlist for this year's award, which Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo is favourite to lift, but the 24-year-old hopes to be competing with his cross-town rival for the title soon.
"My objective is to be the best in the world, without a doubt," he said. "I hope that in the next few years I can compete in the trophy for the best player in the world."

"i swear he has said this three times in the last fortnight!! He at the moment is miles behind Torres, Rooney, Aguero, Kaka, Ronaldo, Messi and even Ronaldinho, who is on current form one of the best players in the world atm. But most of those players listed are players as young or younger than him who are better players, more mature footballers meaning they don't do step overs every time they get the ball and they all at one time or another have been considered the best player in the world when they were at their best. Robinho can't dream of matching those players."

"come on, give this guy a break... what wrong with him want to be world best? Everybody want to be World Best! He do have the potential to be one. Many has been saying that he can't be as long as he is playing for ManC but we shall see what money can do when the transfer market start again (Look at Chelsea for once). "
