Arsene Wenger has refused to discuss the decision to strip William Gallas of the Arsenal captaincy but insists he "has a future at the club".

Wenger: Saw Gunners lose 3-0 to City

Gunners manager Wenger chose not to speak about Gallas in much detail after his side crashed 3-0 to Manchester City in Saturday's Premier League clash at Eastlands.

The France international did not travel north with the squad after making critical comments about his team-mates in midweek, when he questioned their fighting spirit.

Wenger took exception to questions about the defender's absence in his post-match press conference.

However, the Arsenal boss told BBC Radio 5 Live: "Of course he has a future at the club."

Wenger added: "I will not speak about William Gallas in a post-match interview. He is a player who did not play today, so what can he do? Nothing.

"Why should we not talk about (Cesc) Fabregas and the other nine players who are not here? We can go on until midnight and I will give the same answer to the same question."

"Arsenal kids are arrogant, so why can't the leader say something about it? Why can't the leader blast these kids for being arrogant than putting 100% consistency in each games. "

goonereddy (Arsenal fan)

"its a nie and bold step for the manager to strip the captaincy from galas because he was a shame to the young kids inthe first place.

then let me hope the defeat atman cvity will teach wengerthat he has a collection of some promsing young talents but cant win any silverware with them. theyneed big names tolearn from, and that is required fromthe managerto sign in january so that arsenal can manage to compete this season for the forth spot. otherwise, at this rate, i can see arsenal finishing around 9th and fabregas will go.

if wenger cant buy in january, the best he should dofor arsenal, is to step aside."
