Arsenal's young guns were upstaged at Turf Moor, where Burnley's Kevin McDonald's brace secured a 2-0 win and a place in the Carling Cup semis.
Arsene Wenger's starlets had swept past Sheffield United and Wigan on the way to reaching the quarter-finals, scoring six goals and conceding none.
But they fell behind after just six minutes on Tuesday night, and after failing to beat impressive home goalkeeper Brian Jensen, conceded a second goal from 20-year-old McDonald just before the half-hour mark, when he clinically converted with the outside of his right boot.
Nicklas Bendtner was one of the senior Gunners on show but missed a hatful of chances wearing his pink boots, with Jensen bravely blocking his half-hearted attempt from Carlos Vela's right-wing cross on 85.
That save ensured Owen Coyle's Clarets continue their march towards Wembley in style, having added another London scalp to their collection after beating Chelsea and Fulham in previous rounds.

"Burnley played some great football, just as they did against Arsenal in the FA Cup last year. Much respect to them.
Ramsey is a real player, though. "

"the futures not so bright at arsenal! mr wenger need to change his policy. vieira, pires, henry, campbell, ljungberg, gilberto, all left far too early because wenger thought they were too old! he was so wrong. they need more players like these!"

"Congratulations to Burnley. No disrespect to Arsenal but it's always good to see teams from outside the premier league contesting a cup semi final. Good luck!!"

"Shocking finishing and immaturity are the two ingredients that put the boys out of the cup, I thought Bendtner was awful and should have done considerably better and at the other end Silvestre was noticeable in his absence, it could have finished 3-6 with better finishing but all said and done the youngsters did well again in the nursery cup and good luck to Burnley in the semi-finals, they defended well as a team and took their chances well."
