Hull City boss Phil Brown has confirmed the high-flying club are in talks with star defender Michael Turner about a new deal at the KC Stadium.
Turner has been a revelation this season as the Tigers have surpassed all expectations in their first year in the Premier League.
The 25-year-old's stellar performances have seen Turner attract admiring glances from other clubs, with Liverpool and Manchester City both credited with an interest in the central defender.
Hull are keen to tie down the former Brentford ace to a new long-term deal to ward off potential suitors and Brown believes Turner deserves a new contract.
"I've already had two meetings with his agent. We're very close to a new deal," Brown told Radio Humberside
"He's a contracted player at this club for another two-and-a-half years so an extension would be fitting reward for what he's done so far."
