Real target Zokora 'loves' Spurs

Tottenham midfielder Didier Zokora is 'flattered' by interest from Real Madrid - but insists he is happy at White Hart Lane.

The Ivory Coast international was pinpointed by new Real boss Juande Ramos, who he played under during the Spaniard's ill-fated stay at White Hart Lane, as the type of player he would like at the Bernabeu.

Zokora told the Daily Express: "It's fantastic to be associated with Real Madrid as they are one of the biggest club sides in the world - show me the player who would not want to be linked with them.

"But I'm very happy here at Spurs and in England. I love England and the English people. My team is doing much better under Harry Redknapp and I am enjoying every minute of it. For me, this is a win-win situation. I cannot lose.

"I love playing for Spurs, but to be associated with Real Madrid is, of course, very flattering."

Ramos' time at White Hart Lane was largely unsuccessful, last season's Carling Cup victory aside, but Zokora remains a fan of the Spaniard.

He continued: "I was upset when Juande Ramos left because he gave me a chance in English football and for that I'll be forever grateful.

"I was nervous about what would happen next, but as soon as Harry came here things have just got better and better.

"Harry has a very English way whereas Ramos had a Spanish way of dealing with things. Both of them are very good, but we are at an English club so maybe the English way is the correct one."

"Wasn't this a rumour from a couple of weeks ago? Seems that the press have resurfaced it due to RM's recent transfer activity. It's not news so need to fret about it."

Majesteetti (Manchester United fan)

"I don“t understand Boneil“s feelings. Zokora was man of the match against United, and by a long long mile, for example. He is not a defender, yet he kept Ronaldo firmly tucked in his pocket for the entire time the latter spent on the pitch. As for Zokora“s role in midfield, he has had some poor games, too. But I find him a good player."

"why would real want him if they just bought diarra? not gonna happen. "

SpurredOn83 (Tottenham Hotspur fan)

"Why would RM want to sign Zokora when they have just spent 18m + on Diarra..? Hes going nowhere."

"Good on ya Zokora. Great attitude on and off the pitch. I reckon with a bit more confidence and guidance he could be a Spurs legend! On the subject of attitudes... Did Keane really have to kiss the Liverpool Club emblem after scoring against the rear gunners? It was almost a two finger sign to those who thought he would even consider re-joining Spurs!"

boneil (Tottenham Hotspur fan)

"Zokora to R.Madrid.! That is the worst transfer rumour i have ever heard. He is completely useless. If R.Madrid want him Levvy should carry him on his back and drop him off. If we got £2 million it would be £2 million more then he is worth."
